The cleared drilling site of the Munich-Schäftlarnstrasse Geothermal Project was handed over for the construction of the above-ground energy center on May 22, 2020. Taking approximately 2 years for the entire drilling and testing work, the ambitious schedule was met.

The Munich-Schäftlarnstraße project is currently the largest deep geothermal energy project realized in Germany. With a total of 6 Wells including a research multilateral development and a total drilling distance of around 25 km, the project is now setting new standards in the development of deep geothermal energy and will make a considerable contribution to the shaping of the heat turnaround in Munich in the future.

ERDWERK would like to thank all companies involved in the drilling and testing work for the successful cooperation during the past two years and wishes the client, Stadtwerke München, all the best for future geothermal energy projects:

"Glückauf!"
